In Theaters....
With Joe Johnston's remake of The Wolfman, I expected rich, gothic
horror and instead got an "In your face" update of a monster mash with
a comic book action movie feel. I didn't hate it outright, but I forgot the
film's details the very second I stood up from my cushy theater seat.
Maybe House of the Wolf Man will deliver what "Old School"  monster
fans are looking for?

The black and white indie homage, from writer-director Eban McGarr
and nephew of the late, great Lon Chaney Jr.  are finally seeing the
light of day on DVD, September 28. McGarr has created an intentional
throwback to the Universal Monster series, crafting House of the Wolf
Man as an unofficial sequel following the studio's House of
Frankenstein and House of Dracula. The film re-unites Dracula,
Frankenstein's monster and the Wolf Man in a tale about a spooky old
castle inherited by new unsuspecting owners.

Will it deliver where The Wolfman failed? We'll all find out very soon...
More to come......

Let me In -
No one was
anticipating this
moment more than I.
Being a fan of the
original film (Which
hammer also had a
part in) i found no
faults with any of it
but did feel another
actress would do
better. Insert chole
Moretz; she played hit
girl in kick ass but
also has extensive
work in the genre to
include the Amityville
Horror remake &
wicked little things.
After seeing this u.s.

of a fan of this
story! So far this is

Devil -
OK, so I am guilty for
thinking this aloud
just like many of you;
"Not another M.
Knight movie!" I give
the guy credit
because he has
produced some good
films but nothing I
can recall in the last
5 years. Thankfully
he only wrote this
one and John Dowdle
does a decent job of
bringing it to life.
There is a good
"Uneasy" feeling
throughout the film
& it scares you a few
times as a horror film
should.

Four interwoven stories
that occur on Halloween:
An everyday high school
principal has a secret life
as a serial killer; a
college virgin might have
just met the one guy for
her; a group of teenagers
pull a mean prank; a woman
who loathes the night has
to contend with her
holiday-obsessed husband.

5 out of 5 stars
Before anyone "cries foul" over my statement that TRICK
'R TREAT
is the single best Halloween-themed movie ever
made, allow me to back up the statement. While 1978's
HALLOWEEN (My favorite film of all time-period) is a
masterful, amazing thriller that truly has no equal in
the horror genre,
TRICK 'R TREAT is something
wonderfully different. It's a movie that
IS Halloween.

Whereas
Carpenter's classic is set during the holiday
and it plays heavily into the plot, the film could
(arguably) be set on any other night and be just as
frightening.
TRICK 'R TREAT hinges completely on All
Hallow's Eve, taking every spooky childhood memory its
viewers have about the holiday and mashing them into a
gleeful, creepy anthology of tales that are somehow
both genuinely chilling and nostalgically beautiful.
Try as I might, I cannot think of a film more deserving of a 5 out of 5 rating than TRICK 'R TREAT.
Writer/director Michael Dougherty has crafted a film that transformed me into a five-year-old child in
a Dracula cape and plastic fangs, riveted in stunned horror as his vision played out before me.
Somehow, it succeeds in being both terrifying and charming, like a dark old painting that still reminds
you of home.

TRICK 'R TREAT's story unfolds unlike a traditional anthology picture, with all of the movie's separate
plots taking place together. We're not subjected to title cards or stunted intermissions between tales,
but a seamless mix of Halloween pranks & horrors. In its five overlapping stories, a wife discovers
what happens when you blow out a jack o' lantern before midnight, a bullying child learns to check
his candy before eating it, a young woman is stalked by a hooded stranger at a harvest festival, a
group of pranksters uncover the ghoulish truth about a local urban legend, and an elderly Scrooge
is visited by a pint-sized hellion who is far more interested in tricks than treats.

Buffeted by wonderful performances from Oscar winner Anna Paquin, Emmy winner Brian Cox, Dylan
Baker, Leslie Bibb, and Tahmoh Penikett
(Battlestar Galactica),hauteurs'R TREAT is the one and only
genre film to have been released in the past decade that is already one of my all-time favorites.

When its done, you'll feel sorry for the works of Tim Burton and Quentin Tarantino, because
TRICK 'R
TREAT
has taken the best of these hauteurs, blended them with ten pounds of candy corn and razor
blades, and shoveled the whole mess down your throat.

"TRICK 'R TREAT may not be just the best "Halloween themed" movie ever made more so the finest
example of horror cinema in decades." (Nicholas Lovecraft October of 2007). I still stick to my words.

best "Halloween" film of all time

Hush Hush on
Super 8 ?

This film Looks Awesome! Finally, someone has dared to take on the many mysteries
that is the Ohio Underground Airforce Centers. The story takes place based off of
"events" from 1979 somewhere in "Corn-Country" Ohio. "
the Air Force closed a
section of Area 51. All materials were to be transported to a secure facility in Ohio".

New Tron Old
Story?
By: Nicholas Villa
Through all the Fads
Disney has always led
the way, it seems until
now. Tron as I remember,
was a delightful science
fiction summer craze
that fizzled out just as
fast as it started. Maybe
the world was not
ready for "Computers"
or virtual reality back
then? Who knows, but
now we know the nuts
and bolts of gaming and
computers so this film is
at least timely. With
great special effects
and a believable
storyline, Legacy is
nothing more than a
rehash for the new kids.
